3D Artist / Art director
Gor pursued his education at the Yerevan State Humanitarian College from 2012 to 2016, followed by further studies at the Grant Art Education Center from 2018 to 2020. He began his career as a freelancer, gaining hands-on experience in the industry. In 2024, Gor collaborated with the MY.GAMES game studio from February to July, and in September, he joined Sperasoft as a 3D Artist, further advancing his professional journey.
3D character design program
Creating 3D Game Characters is a comprehensive course that guides students through the entire process of designing, developing, and finalizing 3D characters for video games. The course is divided into six essential stages:
- Sculpting & Modeling: Learn to create characters using modeling or digital sculpting software (e.g., ZBrush). Characters are built from polygons and triangles (quads), detailed, refined, and brought to a finalized high-quality stage (high poly or high res).
- Retopology: Optimize the high poly/high res character by reducing polygon counts to meet game industry standards. By the end of this phase, the character will be low poly or low res.
- UV Mapping & Unwrapping: Map the low poly/low res character onto a UV plane, which will later facilitate the texturing process.
- Baking: Transfer textures and micro-details from the high poly/high res character onto the low poly/low res character using UV maps.
- Texturing: Apply color and textures to the character, exploring various materials such as metal, leather, skin, and fabric.
- Rendering: Present the character in a game environment or 3D space, incorporating artificial light sources to highlight colors, materials, and details.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will have a strong understanding of 3D sculpting and modeling techniques, enabling them to create detailed and optimized game-ready characters. They will gain proficiency in retopology for optimizing models, as well as UV mapping and unwrapping to prepare characters for texturing. Students will learn how to transfer intricate details from high-resolution models to game-standard low-resolution models through baking and will develop the ability to apply realistic textures using a variety of materials. Finally, they will master the skills required to present and render 3D characters with professional lighting and environmental setups, preparing them for real-world game development workflows.
